To be honest only player from that list we miss is Egan, he was quality. You’d like to think Neil would stay to the end of the season but that’s football for you.

Respect to a bloke who played 400 games for us and always gave his best. Good luck Neil.

400 games or not - his timing stinks.
The man has history with jumping ship. We’re better off without.

As a fan base we have been crying out for this and when it happens still moaning. All of the above are part of our current position individually they may be good enough but as a collective unit it’s not worked. We are rock bottom for a good reason we finally have a manager whose prepared to make big calls and he has made some in terms of players not around and players he’s brought to the club we needed a culture shift and this is part of it. We have not had the initial bounce but we had that last year and now look worse off as Cal retained 90% of the squad. We have not thrown in the towel he wouldn’t have brought in Laird / Walker seasoned players at this level and above they wouldn’t have come to lose every week . Frankie you only had to see him after the Hendon game he was distraught. Would the board sanction 7/8 players Leigh and Robbie have brought into the club? If they had given up. Nobody is above criticism comes with the roles mistakes have been made but how do you react? They appointed a manager whose had great success in rebuilding a club and it’s his job to try and change the culture as winning should be the norm not a novelty. In that culture and mentality shift we have been crying out for, people will get noses out of joint / big calls have had to be made short term pain for long term gain springs to mind. Whether Leigh and Robbie turn out to be successful for this club time will tell as next season will be culture shock for all of us I struggle being at this level still. I won’t knock them for making big calls as this has been needed for a long time. Good luck to Neil, will always be remembered for Plymouth and 400 appearances for somebody so young whose also played else where shows how fit he kept himself and how so many managers rated him. UTM

UTM Agree with all of the above but the timing of this is what's most disappointing. The way a player with 400+ apps has suddenly gone with only 1 month of the season left, it's almost reads like it was in his control and not the clubs. I personally feel he needed to go a season or two ago and certainly in the summer get rid but to do it now just looks badly on the club I feel.

Thing with Neil is that he had no pace, and has been playing CB a lot recently. Personally I think he had a decent left foot & would of been better suited further forward. Relating it to West Ham he’s a if like Robert Snodgrass; technically good, good set piece, but zero pace.
Reading his tweet he says he’s looking for a new footballing challenge, that’s code for “fuck this circus, I’m off”. Bit like Lanners (who if memory serves left us for Gosport around the same time), loves the club until a bit more wedge is offered. Let me be straight, both Lanners & Neil have been great servants to the club & I dare say are smashing blokes but I would question some of the decisions they’ve made.

We will never know but we are well covered at centre half with Charlie Madden and Callum Rose due back also add in Laird. Robbie alluded in the echo a couple of additions next week. Guessing this maybe on hold with recent events. Good luck to Neil a chance to end the season with a promotion he owes us nothing and we owe him nothing and he’s remembered fondly.
