Thoughts from those who attended? A point earned, points lost or a fair result?

Being pragmatic here it’s a clean sheet and a point after a awful week. Things have to start somewhere, it wasn’t one for the purists that’s for sure. But I work on points and if we can follow this up with a win it can become a good point and the start of something.
Plenty to work on as a good while to our next game. We can kind of reflect after the initial period. Real problems in the centre of the park that’s abundantly clear and hopefully a position we can strengthen. With the leagues above us starting (hopefully). The loan market becomes more of an option also.

Thought we started really nervously but by the end felt like two points dropped. Not that it was a good performance - far from it. And by what I saw last night, that's two teams who'll be battling it out at the bottom.
Couple of observations from my POV: Bathy's best game I've seen him have. Worked hard and tracked back. Made some very good early runs that unfortunately nobody had picked up. Franklyn's worst game for a while. He needs to stop coming back to pick it off the toes of the centre backs when Madden is comfortably our best player on the ball. Move up the pitch and give us another option. Worst of all, he had a opportunity to play Blair through when we were 4-on-3 but instead played it out wide to Oakley. That was the game winning chance. (Central midfield in general is our huge weakness and has been all pre-season) It is a really quiet team. Absolutely no talking between them throughout the game - quite worrying.
Leigh now has a two week window to get in (IMO) a left back and two central midfielders. More importantly, get them on the training ground and get them working on shape and flow of play.

It seems like a valuable point to kick-off the season at last but to me I saw nothing in the performance that gives me hope that the team are up for a fight to climb up the league. Several times a ball went across the penalty area with no one anticipating it. no one making a desperate lunge to get at it in fact no commitment whatsoever to get on the scoresheet. Either we play out from the back or we punt the ball forward. it seemed that either way. we did both. and both resulted in us giving the ball away or being second to it. We will play a lot of better sides than Wimborne and will suffer some heavy defeats unless some passion for the fight gets instilled into the present set of players that the manager thinks are the best available to us at this time

Need someone up front who can keep up with Blair, must have put the ball in the box at least 6 times with nobody on the end of it, very frustrating for him.

What I find concerning about this is it sounds like the same issues we’ve had over the last few seasons. Pretty sure I remember saying 2 years ago that we lacked vocal leaders on the pitch like Jem & Nathan. Clearly we have leaders but we need more talkers on the pitch. Again the fact midfield comes up again is scary. The majority of teams that beat us always have a player in the middle who does the dull/dirty work ie breaks up play & plays simple passes. Maybe this is what Franklyn is trying to be but it’s not his thing?
