Well for this first game of the season I am truly sitting on the fence (and stomped) as I have no idea what the first 11 Craig will call, all the pre-season warm ups seemed to be about Mr Lairds looking at alternative positions if injuries occur, just hoping,as always we win Now interested in what you other guys think UTM Hope this post is not TO negative for certain admins, beginning to wonder how posters will be treated if, god forbid, it's does go tits up and the administration says we must post only smiley happy clappy threads 🤗

As far as I'm aware mate, the only admin on here is a fan with no connection to the board so I doubt we'll get shut down for being down hearted😂
Prediction for Banbury would be 2-1 or 1-1, can't call it.
Don't think we are at our best, but we don't seem as bad as everyone seems to be making out. If we find out form like we had against Poole then we will be just fine.

Could I make a small point that Laird wasn't actually at the game at Poole and the other preseason game we played quite well in was at Portland and he wasn't there either. Could be a running theme going as the two other preseason games I watched that he was in charged of we played terrible. Think he could be sacked after we get destroyed by Weymouth at home on the bank holiday, hope I am wrong but we will wait and see

The bloke seems to be utterly clueless, pre-season was his chance to bring in his squad and get us ready, but we seem to be worse off than we were when last season ended.

Banbury are in good shape with a settled squad and only a couple of new additions. Confidence in their camp will be high after 6 wins from 7 in pre season friendlies. 4-1 Banbury for me...Jefferson Louis hatrick!

The players appear to be staying in a hotel just outside Banbury tonight, could go a long way in starting the season right.
Sleeping in and no long cramped coach journey can only be a positive.
Nice gesture from the club.

So we've gone from hoping for play-off to Trev saying we're going I there not to lose! Ok losing is bad but surely you have to go with the mentality of wanting to win? I'll go for a hopeful 1-2 to Dorch. Yes I'm aware it's unlikely but hell if you can't dream at the beginning of the season when can you?!?!?!

Baffling that the "Board have increased the budget" yet the areas of concern within the team that were not addressed under the previous Manager due to budget constraints have not been improved and areas which were relatively strong seem to have been weakened!

Very nice that the players are staying in a hotel tonight, shows the club really are keen to start well.
I fear as fans though we are starting to fall into the trap of seeing every minor setback as the end of the world. This is Laird's first pre season and full season with us, judge the team and manager after a few games, don't write us off before a ball has even been kicked in the league.

They have to let Craig Laird manage the budget as he sees fit don't you think? Or you would accuse them of interfering. As I've said before I'm far from convinced by the squad. The games I saw there were worrying signs. I didn't see the final game but seeing the highlights, hearing people's views it sounded horrendous. But ultimately pre season results mean nothing. It's today onwards that counts. UTM

and the last quote from Cheery on this forum is " fuck of Laird"Â My gripe is not with results during pre season. We had major problems with conceding goals last season. Pre season that trend continued but overly it's not important. Today counts and we are 2 down in 10 minutes. Craig inherited a side just below mid table by no means great but he broke that up and brought in a number of his own players which led to us needing a result on the final day. He got off all stick " budget cuts' nope there were none as confirmed by the board. He speaks a great game yeah how we were going to control games play nice football sounds good. He fails to grasp the level we are at its about working hard being well drilled. If our players could play the kind of game he wants they would not be playing for us. I heard rumours of dressing room unrest through the week who knows if true but it's not what you want to hear. Let's see what he has to say!
