Don't forget you can make pledges for the entire season, or just this one game, to raise money for the club and win tickets. You can use Twitter @dtfcpledge or make your pledges on here, as long as you leave some form of contact detail.

Wow.
The commentators like Carmichael, Storey sounds like he doing ok, doesn't sound like Bowles is having a good game but he is being played at fullback.

From the commentary, it sounds like we are playing okay now. Shame we decide not to turn up in the first 20 minutes...

The commentator just summed it up well, we have some decent looking players but can't defend.

He's learnt nothing! Concede as many as possible his motto?
You earn time and I don't trust him! Fcuk off Laird

It's pretty much like pre-season. Sounds, like I've said before, no leader at the back. Has Bowles actually had a run out at RB pre-season?

Ok, I know we are all feeling down after this result today but just think, losing 5-1 was not the worse score line in our league today and a major plus, those bigheaded lot over the Ridgway also lost....😀
Small consultation I know, yet surely every little helps

No doubt in my mind. He has to go. And I don't buy this idea that Trevor can take over either. Lovely chap - full of Dorchester goodness but he shouldn't be our next manager. Desperate times.

It looks like Laird executed perfectly what he seemed to be working on in pre season.

It is concerning that this is a game we supposedly went into with the aim of not losing, imagine what would have happened if we had gone there to attack! www.dorsetecho.co.uk/sport/15466484.Magpies__Players_are___39_hungry__39____Senior/We have to get organised at the back, I assume Egan was played right midfield for his pace, I would rather play our strongest right back in that position, get the defence right first.

Only pulling your leg birdman! In all seriousness, anybody who knows this league, seen this team and were aware of what Banbury had to offer cannot possibly be surprised at the result.

I’ve been trying to give Laird the benefit of the doubt this pre-season, despite the chaotic nature. However, having witnessed Saturday’s defeat but more importantly the nature of it, I’m seriously struggling. To see a team so lacking in confidence and leadership this early into a season is galling. Far too many blank looks to the bench, looking around at one-another. How we miss a voice like Nathan!
Bowles had picked up a food bug and wasn’t feeling 100%, so in order to ‘protect’ him a bit he played right back with Egan at right wing. What I’m seriously struggling with here is that Laird decided to use the budget by going with quantity over quality. So, what is the point in having a large squad if you don’t utilise it? What does it say about his faith in the squad players if he chose to play two people out of position in order to accommodate one less-than-100% player? Egan, bless him, is no winger and it seriously showed. Every time he got the ball in an advanced position, he would cut back and play it back to Bowles at RB and moves would break down. There was no attacking down that side and Banbury worked that out within the first quarter. And here’s the rub for me, we’ve tried about six different formations and combinations this pre-season and yet we go into the first game of the season with a completely new set-up, having tried to shoe horn in six defenders into the starting lineup?! No wonder the players looked completely lost and devoid of shape and confidence.
I was really excited when we hired Laird, as I remember his Weston team well. They were always well drilled, structured and had a clear way of playing. We are the polar opposite of them right now and I’m struggling to understand how the same manager can produce such differing teams?! Perhaps McGregor was the brains behind it all? Keep an eye on WSM this season and we'll find out I guess?!

Echo 100% what tsof said. It's difficult to blame the players for Saturday's debacle as they weren't instructed clear roles from the manager. Numerous square pegs and playing 6 defenders on the pitch as apparently our aim was to not concede. Well that worked well didn't it. Banbury barely had to jog past our defence to race clear on goal on numerous occasions, as we didn't know our shape, and if it wasn't for Weale in goal it could've been double figures. Despite the shocking run of results last season under him, I was willing to give Mr Laird the benefit of the doubt until this summer. The chance to bring his team in and get a system in place to be structured and ready. Well our squad looks more chaotic than it did in April, and it's not the first time this has happened with his teams either. I came across this article yesterday from another fan at Saturdays game, evaluating how Yate have had to turn themselves around after what Mr Laird did to them. It makes for alarming reading! I'm sure he's a nice bloke but the man is bad news for any football team out there. He has to go for me. www.gazetteseries.co.uk/sport/yateandsodburysport/15463617.FOOTBALL__We_are_in_a_much_better_place_than_last_season____Yate_Town_manager_Paul_Britton/

Tonight is really important!! Need to see a reaction from the players. If we have the same level of performance that I saw during pre-season & heard on Saturday then Laird may not even make Christmas. I'd love to think this is just an overreaction & that it'll all come good I the end but I need convincing.
Also echo tsof about leaders (I feel I may of said this before). Someone needs to take up the mantle of Nath & Jem & be the voice on the pitch.
