After Monday's result against Basingstoke I thought we were going kick on.
There are some worrying things around Dorchester at the moment. Why are so many players being played out of position? Ollie Griggs who was man of the match on Monday didn't start and didn't even come on. Today Billy Lowes one of our best players was subbed... couldn't understand why. We started with 6 defenders to contain Kings Lynn and once we went behind there was no plan B. The team had been set up to contain Kings Lynn and that was ok until we conceded a penalty after a silly pass in the area from Laird.
We just do not look like scoring and I really worry where we will end up at the end of the season.

Up against a team who have spent a lot of money and are aiming for promotion. The two clubs have massively different expectations and the team weren't hammered today, so I don't think the alarm bells are ringing just yet. If it's one win from the first ten games, then it's a different story. The bonus this year is that there appear to be some clubs with huge problems like Dunstable, Gosport and Basingstoke who are all going to struggle. These are the sides where 3 points must be picked up.

Based on today's performance I have serious concerns for the Weymouth game on BHM, we seriously don't look like scoring and the amount of times we lose the ball in midfield is alarming, the silence from the bench is deafening!!

It's not good enough.

Everyone would love the club they support to be in amongst the play offs, but you must be realistic and accept a top half finish would be a miracle.

Now I may of been a fool to believe for a second but Laird did say play offs were the aim.
About today, we didn't play awfully but I agree why Griggs didn't play is beyond me. Sadly we never really looked like scoring, probably only had 5 shots all game. We weren't out classed, far from it but you have to take your chances when they do come. Also why Laird starts I also can't explain. Weymouth is going to be tough.
Plus side Bearwish looks good, DPD is lively & Weale will keep us in games when required.

We were totally outclassed today, kings Lynn could have stepped it up and buried us if they wanted to, their keeper was a total spectator!

Craig did say playoffs were the target and this was reflected in the budget. We have some good players and the nucleus of a good team, but our tactical set up is bewildering at times.
Regarding today, we set out to defend, when we went behind we didn't seem to have another plan.
Like others have said, no idea why Griggs didn't start and no idea why Lowes was taken off.

So are we as fans just accepting this defeat because Kings Lynn have bigger expectations than we do. Losing to Kings Lynn at home is a moral victory because "at least we didn't get hammered!" If that is the case then what is the point? However, I personally don't believe this is the case and I really feel for the board here as they hired a manager back in January who seemed like a good appointment at the time, mostly for what he did at Weston. However, Mr Laird has let them down badly. He has been given a reasonable budget as well, but has used it very poorly and now the THIRD game in, he still doesn't have a clue what he is doing with this squad. Another ring of changes from a win in midweek, with more square pegs from what i can see in the lineup above. As mentioned, we have the nucleus of a good team but a clown of a manager who doesn't know how to use it. His record since he came in is W.5 D.4 L.12, conceding goals for fun with 1 win from his last 10, which is unacceptable. I would love to say he deserves time but it doesn't look like things are going to change at the minute.

Yesterday was frustrating. At times we had 9 defenders. There was a 10 minute spell in the second half where we looked promising (when the 2 subs were made) but other than that, we did not compete. I also felt for Tom Blair when he was brought off as he looked like the mostly likely to create something positive. I cannot understand what his replacement brought to the game? Blair was, and is better. If we are to have 5 players anywhere, it ought to be in midfield to protect the back line but give us somewhere to go when we have the ball. Blair was out-marked for most of the game and everything came straight back. We need to play with 2 up front!
I also think there was duplication of players which was hard to understand. Clarke and Martin are both great left-siders and playing them both is fine in a 4-4-2 where one can support the other. Not sure how yesterday was supposed to work for them though? Were they two wingbacks? Similar problem on the right side. I did however think that Panesar-Dower was good value and is one to watch.
The key concern is that we are expecting a setup that is chasing the playoffs. That was the stated aim. Time will tell but that was the stated ambition. I don't think yesterday was 'it'. As has been said above, there didn't seem to be a plan B when the containing game didn't work.
The derby game will be a its usual 'unique' affair. It is the games that follow that will be telling.
Come on you Magpies!

Both goals were avoidable. First it was a penalty, but shouldn't of been in that position if we could just clear our lines. We're not good enough to piss about on the edge of our own box. 2nd goal, defender gets turned very easily & then their player just wanders in & unmarked from 6 yards nods home. In trading this week I think shooting & defending drills are called for.

Total opposite to what he said in the fans forum about being on the front foot. How his sides have always attacked etc. I've no problem with being hard to beat but even when we set up this way we lose. The goals are bloody awful, Laird Jnr why would Lanners want the ball there? However Craig blames Lanners. He blames Bowles for the 2nd I'd look at Gary and Callum. A big bug bearer like Banbury in the space of 10 minutes we are out of a game.
