I've been reading bits on various pieces on social media and the thoughts of why Craig ultimately failed and going forward, who would possibly want the job due to budget / we as supporters demanding to much.
Firstly I still believe in non league circles this is a decent job obviously the stadium kinda goes without saying. The board let you manage how you see fit with little interference that cannot be under estimated today. Things off then pitch are light years ahead of where we were IMO 3/4 years back. What we have not had is a successful team so gets missed and to an extent that's why we do it imagine the two together we have the 4G pitch in the back ground with everything maybe we are a whole lot closer or could be.
FWIW I'd love Ashley Vickers the characteristics he would bring are what we are missing and have been for too long. I'm fed up of us being a soft touch it was the downfall of Craig beyond belief on average to win a game under him we needed 3 goals if what I quickly worked out was correct.. Good sides are built on solid foundations first and foremost. Going past that I like the idea of a young / new manager to embrace everything no past records fresh broom type thing. Carl Pettifer perhaps at Poole coming to the end played pro for many years Pompey and Oxford and non league Totten and Bogner if memory serves me right is he looking for management? Shaun Cooper could be put in that bracket. Jamie Brown knows the club etc and okay one of my favourite players down the years at Winchester last i heard. One of them with Trev in the back ground as assistant / coach I like the sound off.
One thing I do believe we do have is time no need to rush let's let applicants come to us put feeders out etc. Proper due dilegence or as best you can to get the right man.
UTM.
Apologies for poor grammar / spelling in advance TSOF😉

Petterfer's an interesting shout. If we're going to go with a total novice with absolutely no management experience, he'd be towards the top of my list. I really liked the idea of Chris Todd, but he's Torquay based, which you'd imagine rules him out. Can't believe I'm going to say this, but I wouldn't be totally against Brendan King tbh. Given that we won't go down this season, hopefully will have a 3G pitch in place next season (all going well) and certainly need a bit of professionalism and someone with an understanding of this club, I think Matty Holmes would be my preference at this stage. He'd have this season to get his feet under the table, pressure-free and know's the Bournemouth scene well enough.

Would Shaun Joyce be an option, Craig failed to get him in as his assistant (no idea what happened there).

Kevin Hill anybody?
His career speaks for its self legend at Torquay was superb for us for a few years reverting to centre half. Carried on at Tivvy after we let him go was gutted to see him go. It was to bring Scottie Guyett in if memory serves me correct.
Currently managing local to where he lives. He was at Exmouth and an article giving praise for the way he handles himself. Whether he would be interested who knows but certainly somebody I would like.

Hi Cherry, reading your thread, am I right in thinking you have now have set your sights lower as to what DTFC might achieve this season, in the comfort that surely not even DTFC will be bottom of this pile of crap come next May 😀

Some Poole fans are getting on Killick's back after a poor start, unbelievable after all he has achieved there.
His name has been suggested on here, guess it depends if he would drop down for the long term potential. He can't do much else at Poole (their attendance tonight was 273, that would be poor even for us!)

I like the idea of Kevin Hill - fine person and always an informed clubman when he was here..

Rumour at the time was Vickers was worried Hill was a contender for his job so shipped him out, one of my favourite players. I can't remember Scott Guyett though?

We really need to get back to the days of around 6-7 years ago, I guess we took for granted how we were doing at the time. Obviously, i'm not expecting to be paying the same wages we were but we seemed to a be a club that players wanted to play for and people only really spoke fondly of. These days there seems to be a toxic negative attitude towards the club and a lot of our fans have accepted this downward spiral we've been going on. We don't need to turn out this way.
Tommy Killick was a name I wouldn't have considered a few weeks ago, given where Poole are but the more I hear his name being linked the more I think, has he taken Poole as far as he can? And does he want to stay local and a similar level or does he have ambitions of managing in the conference or higher? I expect it's the latter but if he was then i'd bite arms off to have Killick managing DTFC.

Has the job been advertised yet and,if so, are there any rumours about the quality and quantity of the applicants? Or is the club trying to do things hush-hush behind the scenes?

Not a chance part of the reason we as a club are in constant decline is accepting of things to easily. Aim high and be the best we can be as a club. Our budget as alluded to by Craig himself and the board in the fans forum was a mid table / top half so as I've said previous before a ball was kicked that's where I believe we should be aiming. It would draw a line under the last 4/5 years as it's kinda been a constant decline on the pitch at least. Off the pitch is improving IMO however to see the that it needs to tie in with on the pitch and I don't think we are that far away albeit right now it does. Do I think this current squad is good enough for what I'd like for that then it's an entirely different question. I gave my views on the squad Craig assembled on various threads believing it's not good enough. They are an honest bunch cannot question work rate etc. If I was selected no player will have worked harder / be prouder etc not a chance am I good enough. Just in case I'm accused of being personal it's not a personal slur. UTM

Closes for applications tomorrow. dorchestertownfc.co.uk/2017/09/04/dorchtownfc-invite-applicants-for-first-team-manager-vacancy/My choice would be Killick, would be awesome for the entire club. If our soul aim was to stay in the division I would take Vickers, but survival would be a waste of a decent budget, we should still be aiming top half as a minimum with the budget. The club seem to be in a better position off the pitch than it has been for a few years, we need to now get it right on the pitch.

As a Community owned club wouldn't it be interesting if the club could announced everyone who had applied for the position, though in reality, I doubt this would be feasible, as some applicants, might already be working at another club, still, would make a fine thread on the pros & cons as to who actually wants to take up this challenge and whom we would choose as to what the directors appoint.
If the lad is up for it, then my choice would be Kevin, then again, I might be biased 😜
though thinking about it, could my liver survive........

As is a CBS member I'd be interested in seeing who had applied. However as the elected board take care of the day-to-day running of the club can't see us hearing. Just like you said if any of the applicants are in jobs it's better only the board know. Still would be interesting though.
