Interesting game last night.
We’re by no imagination the finished article but Thommo has done a remarkable job in a relatively short space of time in beginning to turn around our fortunes. There remains defensive frailties but there’s an added steel and fight that, I suspect, wasn’t evident under Laird.
Fallon has all the makings of a DTFC cult hero. He was causing all sorts of difficulties up front with his heading prowess - their defenders simply didn’t know how to play him. His knock-ons weren’t necessarily finding our players but that’ll come in time. Reckon that Bearwish would love to play alongside him.
Funny ground at Kings Langley. A bunch of annoying kids singing songs about one of their players’ 24 inch dick who would have been punched if they weren’t kids.
A pre-game and half time DJ called Roy who treated us to a wild array of quirky tunes from outside of their bar.
It was all a bit odd even for non-league oddness.

It's been the case with our last 2 games that you'd look at both Chesham from Saturday and last night at Kings Langley, as very winnable games, but given the circumstances of how they panned out, you'd look at them as 2 points gained. We have a belief about us under Thompson which I never saw under the previous regime. It was important we got a goal early in the second half and we did just that and from then on I was confident we'd get something from the game. To be fair to Kings Langley, they were a better side than I gave them credit for before the game and certainly not the worst opposition I've seen. Loved the look of Rory Fallon for us, he will cause a lot of problems for defenders. Striker alongside him and we'll be flying. Still lots to improve on but we're getting there. We're turning games we'd have lost in the past into points and it's nice not going into games fearing a thrashing.

Taken from the Kings Langley website:
"It was groundhog day for Kings Langley as they produced an early firework display that lit up Gaywood Park in the first half, only to fall to earth in the second. The home side flew from the traps with such ferocity that they could have been four up in the first ten minutes, a Gareth Price cross steered just wide by Mitchell Weiss, before the excellent Chris Weale pulled off three telling saves from Weiss, Stevie Ward and then Weiss again. The Magpies then started to find the willing David Jerrard an outlet on the left and he forced debutant keeper Martin Bennett, signed on loan from Hitchin Town, into a flying tip round the post before curling a shot just over. Kings were firing on all cylinders, with high energy pressure denying the visitors any time on the ball and some crisp incisive passing that threatened to carve open the defence. When the opening goal arrived though, it came from a more direct route as Gareth Price fed Kieron Turner on the right and he elected to cut inside and deliver a shot from the corner of the box that arced into the top far corner of the net. A Dean Hitchcock rocket rattled the advertising hoardings to the right of the post and a Brendan Ocran header to a Turner cross was just over as Town struggled to stay in the game, their best chance falling predictably to Jerrard, who turned it past the post. Then, as the referee looked to end the first half, a sublime Stevie Ward through ball saw Mitchell Weiss break under pressure from the imposing figure of Ross Carmichael and steer the ball home off the advancing Weale. The performance had been one of, if not the, best of the season and would surely provide a springboard for the overdue first home win, but within four minutes Billy Lowes had found the space to unleash a twenty five yard screamer into the net and the ghost of past lost opportunities appeared on the touchline. A left wing cross looked harmless, but Panesar-Dower’s stretch just got a toe to it and the slow motion ball deflected off both Billy Lowes and the post past the wrong-footed Martin Bennett. Kings tried hard to wrestle the advantage back, but produced only two good chances, as opposed to the multitude of the first half. Both fell to Brendan Ocran and both were straight at the keeper. So the quest continues, leaving management and supporters attempting to analyse another frustrating Jekyll and Hyde performance."

Quite an entertaining read, bit different from the usual newspaper write ups you have to read.
