Ok so I've been thinking this morning & the next game against Basingstoke will see us without four 1st team players, at least two of which were starters. That's of course assuming that Franklyn, Tom & Nath are fit. Question is do we have the squad to cope? We might field a reasonably strong 11 but do we have the bench to back it up? Sorry to be such a wet blanket after the events of yesterday(I miss Jem already) but football, like life carries on. If someone out there can prove me wrong then please do so!!

without bringing players in on loan or dipping into the reserves the squad is very thin ,we do however have liam sayer to return at some point .I would be inclined to give sol ayunga a run out up front which would allow ben wood to return to the wing and give the team a much needed spearhead. I havent seen a lot of billy mitchell but he seems to be the brightest spark to emerge from the reserves recently.

Liam was saying to us on BD that he needs an operation on his ankle and is out for a year.

Liam was saying to us on BD that he needs an operation on his ankle and is out for a year. i was talking to liam a few games ago ( Biggleswade) he said he had done his knee (acl i think its called) at the very end of the Salisbury game and now got to have a scan then the op. He said the op would be a few months away as he has to wait for the NHS to find a slot. He also said if he was still at a league club his being Portsmouth then he would have had it done through the club and would have had it done asap after it happened so would have been at least a month into the eight or nine months rehab already, but being with a non league club the money just is not there as we all know most of the money raised goes to premier league clubs but not fairly and then just about dribbles down to league 2.

I assume we can also recall Owen Nicholson and Nick Swan from Hamworthy? I would certainly hope we can . Both young hungry lads who wanted to do well at the club as they thought they had been brought to the club for the future then for some reason couldn't get off the bench. Both were always happy to have a good old chat with you unlike some of the older ones who always seem to make excuses to disappear.

Noticed Jamil Roberts started following the Club's twitter account again the other day after leaving for Taunton last month - could be coming back as another option at left back now Smeets has left?

Did he play any games for Taunton? Can't see he actually did - although he has played a few games for Willand Rovers in the Western League over the last few weeks, scoring a couple of goals.
