I got a text from an old fan last week.
He told me all about how for him the sense of fun at being a Magpies supporter is passing.
We'll always love this club.
But it gets harder and harder with this current unambitious board who think that a trip to Cerne Abbas would be a journey too far..
A board who at the first sign of dissent close down the message board we all loved..
I'm stating here and now that I'm going to stand to become a new director. I suspect my name will become mud with many as a result..
But I don't care.. I love this club so much & it shouldn't be the closed shop it is at present.. I challenge Dave Ring, the man who closed down the previous message board, to stand against me..

Sean, there are many things we agree on about our club. However I really don't see how this helps things with us at each other's throats and a personal attack on somebody who does countless hours for this football club. Why pick out Dave personally? It's because he's always there and will talk to us all. it will be a sad day if the football club loses somebody like Dave.
I am not a CBS member which many know the reasons mentioned on the old forum as I'm not convinced it could work for DTFC this kinda confirms my thoughts.

Sean. I like Cherry Magpie feel like a personal attack on this forum is the wrong thing to do. (which of course it may seem i am doing it myself) I and most others on here can see that you have a problem with someone on the board (and now you have named Dave) and it has been running for a while now but the problem surely is between you 2 and personally i think the best way to go is to email him with your grievances and to sort it out behind the scenes. If you cant sort it out between you 2 then you can always approach other directors to act as a go between to help bring this too a close. I and many others don't know the problem and dont need to know what it is but this can only cause bad feeling with such a personal attack on some one who puts so much time and effort into the running of our club, there is hell of a lot of time spent not just on match days but through the non playing days on club business with meetings etc. that i am not sure many people on here know or would be willing to do the job as the time, commitment, stress involved is bad enough, leave alone then receiving such an attack in public on someone who loves the club and is trying to do their best.
At the end of the day it should not matter what anyone feels about someone else, we should all be putting our differences aside and pushing the same way for the club we support. It makes me feel disappointed that people are having a go at someone else who is prepared to put their all into the running of our club, when i can not offer the skill, time, commitment needed to even think about doing it. Perhaps you may have the skill, ideas needed to help the club go forwards so please put forwards your ideas to the board at a co owners meeting (by email if cannot attend) so that your skills, & ideas are there for the club to look at. With regards to standing against Dave at the board re-elections it may be that he is not up for election as i believe and maybe wrong that only 3 board members stand each year for a 3 year term so it could be 3 others who stand for re-election. Even so as there will be a number of board members to be elected this time so you can put yourself forwards to stand for one of the places which then of course depending on whether you get elected or not would mean you could be on the board yourself and so able to express you views directly to the board at meetings. Please dont think i am attacking you personally and defending someone else but i just feel this forum is not the place to personally air things between people, just that if there is anyone at the club i may feel unhappy about i will try to carry on and to sort it out with them and do my best for the good of the club without causing a fuss. Again the club needs everyone to be united in going forwards forgiving others if need be. I wish there was someone out there waving a blank cheque book at the club so we can be successful but unfortunately as we know thats not going to happen and that the CBS path seems the only way to have a football club for us to support.
I will now don my flack jacket and await being shot down and torn apart for being seen to stand up for the board, who through all their best endeavours do at times seem to get things wrong.

just a couple of thoughts on this.
A) Sean, I don't think you can actually challenge someone by name, I would guess that you would take a look at who is standing for re-election and then if you wish to stand against a certain person, then put your name forward.
B) I cannot see how in a democratic CBS club like ours, if someone states their intention to stand against another, disunites our club
Go for it

Tom. I believe there are 3 Board members to be re-elected each year and any Co owner is entitled to put their names forward to stand at those votes so Sean can put himself forwards this year to be elected.
Tom i was not trying to say that if someone states their intention to stand against someone else it disunites our club, i was trying obviously not clearly enough (too long winded) to say that this forum should't be used to attack someone at the club in such a personal manner. Looking at Sean's post over the past few months it was obvious that there is an issue with someone at the club but i dont think we need to know what that problem is. but Sean came out strongly making it known it was Dave Ring who he has the problem with. All Sean needed to do was say that he was going to put his name forwards for the election and if he gets elected he would carry on trying to fix the problem. I believe no doubt wrongly that attacking someone using their name on any forum is wrong why not just email or arrange a meeting with the person to try to sort out whatever. There are people who we all work with that perhaps we only put up with because we spend the biggest part of the day with but wont have nothing to do with them outside of work why cant this apply to our club why keep attacking someone when instead both could put their hands up say sorry move on. Anyone looking at this forum seeing people attacking others must make us look bad when in fact we are all supporters following OUR team to the best we can. Again not trying to knock anyone as we all have our ideas, views on how we can help this club through these times of trouble. Phil

Phil (and Steve),
I take the points you make. And have indeed taken the conciliatory route in the past.
But I'd point out that - (a) it was Dave Ring who closed down the previous forum. (b) he did this after aggressively saying to me on that forum that I should 'take the club to court. (c) and that was simply because I questioned that former shareholders were not made aware that the loans given by some current directors to the former club would continue to be honoured by the new club (when the shareholders had to write off their shares).
It's an unfortunate truth but fans have had to resort to grumbles on this forum largely because the opportunity to question and understand through less public means has been closed to us by a board not willing to enter into any dialogue.

Thanks Sean. That would clear up things alot. With the loan/share thing i can see why you have issues although i would hazard a guess that the FA etc would make sure any loans with the old co were transferred across to the new co as part of the sign off. But yes it would seem strange that share holders were asked to give up shares whilst loans can be taken back at a later date. Not sure why the other board members have not seemingly helped as i have never (yet) had any problems with anyone that has not been sorted out easily. Sorry if it did seem to look like i was having a go but i have never personally had any problems with Dave in fact strange as it may seem to you he is one of the ones that i can rely on if i need any help with anything he is always on hand also i do get to see how much work he puts in behind the scenes to keep the club going.
