I see he's gone now, why is Laird forcing out all the fan favouritesite and replacing them with loans. Really annoys fans, well me anyway.

Personally Oldring was one of my players of the season. Always have his all, actually I'm a little gutted. Franklyn was always a short term thing & I'm not really surprised. Starting to wonder how much of a squad there is left?!?!

Good luck to both!
Personal sentiment aside this current squad is on course for our lowest ever finish for how long? Lowest in my time certainly. We have banged on about it needing someone to be ruthless / mix things up and I guess this is it.
It's a brave move and it's now upto Craig to build his own squad.

We've clearly gone a bit over budget recently with all the new additions in order to get to safety and now we're more or less there, we're cutting back to balance things up. The loanees are no doubt short term measures to see us through the end of the season on the free. Franklyn was always going to be a short term option as he looks to get into full time football and Oldring, whilst he's improved since Laird has come in, is a player we'd be looking to improve upon next season IMO. We have a manager who knows what he wants next season and is already setting his sights on that. Given how little this squad has achieved over the last 3 seasons in this league, a fresh change is needed I reckon.

Whilst people in Dorch will no doubt moan and assume the worst and of course it is frustrating as Oldring has been brilliant for us lately you have to look at it longer term. Craig Laird isn't doing this to piss fans off, he's looking at the strategy for his side going into the next campaign. Lets see how his squad looks come August, then we can give ourselves an idea of where we're heading as a team. As for this season, I think it's fair to say it's been a disaster ever since the park and ride scheme went tits up in June/July and has been an uphill battle since. Thankfully (hopefully!) we've got through the season with our Southern Premier league status in tact and can look ahead to the next campaign, without any off field major setbacks, fingers crossed.

As posted above also thought Franklyn was only going to stay till the end of the season. Really gutted that Matt has gone, really think something must be going on behind the scenes as if you ever talked to Matt he was always through & through DTFC. Really thought it was between Matt & Nathan for player if the year. Just can't get my head around Matt going one of/if not most consistent player every game no doubt to be replaced by loan players who we will never see after the end of the season just can't see there is going to be much team spirit with all the older more experienced players leaving Woody going last week as well and players coming in for just a couple of weeks with no attachment or loyalty to the club Hope i am wrong with the above. Good luck Matty & Frankie wherever you end up. Big Thank you Matt for the help with the picture requests when asked. I was on holiday in Greece first 2 weeks of May last year and am pretty certain the Echo ran the story of the council pulling the P&R when i was away so a month if not more earlier than June/ July so more time to have tried to sort out the budget although i think it's fair to say results up till end of October or so we're not good no doubt meaning a 100 or so supporters lost at £10 or so a game meaning the budget was a lot less than hoped/planned

Makes sense now why Oldring went out of his way to clap the few fans who were at St. Ives on Saturday. It was almost like he knew it was his last game for us. I've not seen as many games as I would have liked over the past few years but I'd agree that Matt has always been a consistent performer.
Laird clearly knows what he wants and isn't afraid to make the big decisions. I reckon we might see some season long loans next year to complement the side he's slowly pulling together. Vance is a find; Ormrod looks capable; and Ollie Griggs (he's our player apparently) could develop into something very special. I think the two lads from Exeter might be around for a while as well!!

Logically thinking I'd say it's a bit of both. I'm guessing the budget was front loaded to ensure survival. Barring a freak set of results we are there. looking ahead I'm sure Craig has thought about who he sees playing for the club next season and Matty is unfortunately one that's cut. And Frankie I'm sure will be looking for a pro club when fully fit never really worked out for both of us this time. Let's not forget we have achieved nothing in 3/4 years I don't get the hysteria myself of the break up of this squad. UTM

Indeed. We've been awful for years now with many of the same faces for that period. Maybe a complete shake up is what's needed as what we've been doing has clearly not worked.
I've heard Matt was a strong character so maybe he didn't gel with Craig. Not knowing either I can't say but you don't ditch your best players unless something isn't right so I'd guess at either personality clash or money (or both).

Craig Laird will be judged on his tenure he's hardly breaking up a successful team/ squad. He's trying to make new history / get this club achieving again. The last 3/4 years have been poor on the pitch there is no getting away from that and tough decisions need made/ are being made. Players come / go chance for new heros etc. I can only speak for myself here but for the first time in a long time things seem to be looking up the upturn in form has secured our safety nothing to be celebrated but we can now look ahead. The 3G is coming along nicely it seems let's look ahead and get this football club achieving again. UTM

Really not getting the hullabaloo over all this, personally. Can someone explain it to me?
As far as I see it, we presumably went slightly over budget when Craig came in with the influx of loanees in order to secure safety. Now that we've more-or-less achieved that with a couple of weeks left in the season, we're cutting back to balance the books - and have done so with releasing two non-contract players. One who is unlikely to be with us next season anyway due to openly wanting to get back into full-time football and the other an average centre back who wasn't going to be part of our plans next season.
What am I missing here?

Completely agree with TSOF, the rants on Facebook are crazy, maybe it is people who don't know the club very well.
It seems Oldring has been on his way out for months (even under the previous manager) so is no shock.
It's a shame for Clarke, but he has been nowhere near his previous levels, anyone who has watched us play would be able to see this.

Matt signed for Wimborne, interestingly it says Alan Walker Harris has left the club for Slough. Not sure as i thought he had signed only for 2 games as Slough had another keeper lined up for replacement of their injured Keeper. Franklyn signs for Salisbury.
