The line:
Asked about what pre-season methods he prefers, the ball-playing midfielder replied: “Nobody wants to go back into pre-season and start doing 10k runs every other night after work. It’s just not enjoyable.
“I think some managers are a bit ancient in the terms of thinking ‘nobody’s fit, we will do three bleep tests this week’.
“I remember, when I was really young, going to Dorchester for a pre-season and, in the first four sessions, we did a fitness test in each session. I was just sat there thinking ‘this isn’t football, I may as well just go and join an athletics club’.
“I’d hate to do another pre-season like that and I can’t imagine Moles is going to do anything like that, which is good.”
I wonder when he came to us when he was really young and who the management team were? It sounds like something Heath or Vickers would do.
Tend to agree with him though.

I remember my father in law saying that the first pre-season get together at the club would be a run up to Maiden castle and back, though him and a few others would sit part of it out for a fag break, how times have changed 😀

I can't imagine it being Ashley Vickers as going back 5/6 years and Charlie Davis is only early 20s and in his younger days was at Bournemouth. One thing nobody you could label at an Ash Vickers side was a lack of fitness so what ever his methods on fitness were it worked. Guessing he's either alluding to Kempy who brought him in on loan or Mark Jermyns first full season which we started the season fire so it obviously worked. It was Feb of that season we folded and certain players went missing like our mate Charlie.

I didn't realise he was on loan with us, that would make sense as he says he was really young, Kemp never struck me as a fitness fanatic.
Vickers teams were certainly fit!

Kemp was hired mid-season. He wouldn't have done a pre-season.
He was definitely on loan to us from AFCB at one point (pre-2013)

Isn't Stuart Heath renowned for focusing heavily on fitness during training? Could be a dig at him since he has been at the club every time Davis has been with us.

Either way the guy's an arrogant prick who loves to have a dig at the club at any opportunity. Baffling really as the club and our fans were nothing but good to him while he was a player here. The way behaved around the budget cuts a year ago to force himself a move after one moderately good season just sums up whats wrong with modern day footballers.

I thought the manager told him he had to come back preseason and prove himself so he told the manager where to go and joined Weymouth. It was well known he clashed with Mark Jermyn (often in full view).

If memory serves me correct he was with Brandon Goodship/ Baily Cargil as they both got pro contracts while Charlie was released.

I've noticed in quite a few interviews with Weymouth players in the Echo that they've mentioned Dorchester. This could be the Echo stirring it up although I haven't seen any of our players doing it the other way.
I suspect they're looking at the squad we're developing this season and they're a bit scared. If Charlie does his usual and flatters to deceive again at Weymouth he's running out of local clubs to rock up at. Reckon he'll be at Blackfield and Langley before the season is out moaning about Msrk Molesley and Weymouth..

Be interesting, regarding what this thread is about, if this closed season the muff players will NOT have its normal photo shoot where normally you see rejects get together on the sewer beach and running around like flotsam washed up like on the beach 😂
