Attacking midfielder, 19 year old Ollie Bassett signed on short term loan from Yeovil. Apparently Tony Lee's loan has ended and he is expected to move on to Whitehawk.

Ollie's quite distinctively ginger isn't he? Looks like he could be an excellent loan signing given his pedigree. He's been a regular sub for Yeovil this season and he's an under 19 Northern Irish. International.. Could be what we need..

But it's only a months loan so no doubt he will get some game time/fitness then be called back to Yeovil so nothing to get too excited about from either camp really. We get someone for a month then when he is fitter etc he go's back Yeovil meaning they get a more fit player. Then we again have to try to find someone else for a short while then repeat throughout the season and not really get anyone in for a long period to settle into the team or team to gel as they are gone to be replaced again. Still with no budget i suppose we will have to suffer just they way it is i suppose. Losing Tony Lee is a big blow though as he would put himself about not really fazed by a big old defender, think really enjoyed winding them up. Great free kick at Weymouth and a lot of effort across the front taking defenders with him leaving room for Mario,Ben and Nathan etc to get in on goal. maybe a bit hot headed but put a lot into his work

Who knows, he may enjoy his time here and Yeovil might be happy to extend it by another month or two, which has been common in the past. Even if he is here for just the month, if he can help get us points in that time, like his contribution last night then i'm happy.

Yes i know thats the point of the loan system and did say because of the budget situation we are in looks like it is how we are going to have to do it. But its not the way i believe things should be done i believe you should have a squad of players signed and only bring in loan players to help here and there to help out, also is there a rule on the number of loanees per season you can have. Also many times in the past 40 odd years i have been watching a couple of good games and they are gone meaning someone else has to come in and settle in. It cant be the ideal thing for the players to have constantly changing players around them not being able to settle or gel. Also i wonder how the fringe players feel when someone leaves and someone comes in without them getting much if any game time, i was under the impression that one of the reasons Ben Walker left was he could't get any game time also Jason Brookes must wonder what he has to do to get a run of games being on the bench most games but not going on. Any one know where Jason and Nick Swann were last night as didt see either there. Thought Ollie did well when he came on but was surprised someone looked to challenge Mario in the height department. A separate thing i see AWH played for Parley on Saturday although he seemed pretty busy losing 5-0 away to Manor in the BFA Hayward league

Do we know if we're going to get his loan extended? I was told on Saturday that the Dunstable game is the last of the initial month deal but would be a terrific boost if we could keep hold of him for another month or two. Was a class above from the one game I saw him the other day. Not the clubs fault of course, but considering he was absent for 2 weeks of the loan due to international call up it feels as if we haven't really got as much use of the deal as we should have. I'm not sure if we pay any of his wages but feel he's worth the funds as he can make the difference.

Hopefully Lea will have a similar impact that Basset did.
