Well this dreadful Covid19 virus has certainly effected our lives, personally and sporting wise.
I would be interested, regarding the footy as to how you are feeling about how the season should now progress.
Personally as a Leeds fan I would go for ending all positions as they are now, yet I know this is unfair to say Aston villa as they have a game in hand, also, who knows, DTFC might put in a few good results.
I guess in all reality we all will just have to wait to see what the Premier league officials say, along with UEFA, next week.
Just to maybe kick start this once fantastic forum back into life, I would be interested in others thoughts
Stay safe & well

I would think that ending all positions as of now is the most unlikely of scenarios.
I think they will either finish league fixtures in the summer if the spread of the virus reduces dramatically of it's own accord when the weather warms up (unlikely) or the season will be null and voided and we start a new season in a year or two when a vaccine has been developed and implemented.

Hi James, I've heard on the radio that clubs (like Leeds) might take the EFL to court if they decide to nill avoid this season, to cover the cost of losing their manager, also, as you say, complete our season in the summer, yet this obvious option, depends on EUFA suspending eruo 2020.
So many options

My thoughts are, we will not be able to finnish any football league's this season. It will all be null and void. This will have to be done to get next season started by September. This will disappoint a lot of fans but there is no time for anything else. This virus will not be under control till July.

Anyone know if the first team are still training? Did they train on Saturday? If not when did they last train, Poole were at the stadium last Tuesday, did we train elsewhere? The week before that was the Weymouth match, so no training that week?

The week before that was the Weymouth match, so no training that week? The press release from the Poole/Beaconsfield switch said the magpies were training at an alternative place but as for this week i'm not so sure. Wouldn't surprised me if it was cancelled for most clubs due to the uncertainty of the leagues etc.

As the manager isn't keen on training more than once a week perhaps not training at all comes under the excuse category of unnecessary travel or avoiding social contact - not sure but I think it might

To me, regarding training, all the players and staff have family, after the latest announcements today, it looks very much as though the season is over, at least in our level, so if I was a manager I would cancel all group training and treat this worrying time as a extended summer break and ask my players to self train at home
Keep safe and well everyone

Just thought of another issue that might affect our club, looking out the conservatory I see the floodlights are on, meaning income to the club, yet after todays news, will they have to close the ground, then cutting off income?
Keep safe and well everyone

Barnet are making cuts, not all related to Corona Virus but it hasn't helped. www.barnetfc.com/news/2020/march/club-statement-emergency-measuresI wonder if we are still paying 'expenses' to non contract players and if we are should they be stopped for the sake of the future of the club?? We would have surely always had cash flow problems anyway as we had so few home games left (not helped by the Poole boxing Day switch).

To help all clubs the football league's should call the season over and all contracts cancelled. This may be tough on players but no more than the rest of the country's workforce, it may just save some clubs for next season. To believe that any league can finnish this season is living in cuckoo land.

Hi didler, I take your just talking semi professional leagues? Don't think even a average player playing for say Stevenage would be happy to see his contract nil and void, not even sure players in our league would?

Just cancel all contracts? What happens to our moral obligation at this time. Itβs difficult on non contract players as while we have no obligation I have an issue on a moral level perhaps agree to a % as they would have factored in on earnings they have mortgages and families. Also the cash flow issue we as a club will have which is going to range from match day revenue and bookings from the pitch / bar. you take from other avenues of the business to cover the short term issue which in our case I guess would be the pitch fund on a short basis I guess and over the coming years you over pay to cover the loss etc. I have no idea just my thoughts as a mere fan Iβm sure there are far more qualified than myself on to it. This is not a dig at anyone connected to the club, just my thoughts
Listen to today's announcements by the chancellor and the monies being put back to help small businesses, I do hope that the club, and I've no doubt they are, is going through the small print in hopefully obtaining bailouts from the government
Keep safe and well

With the club closed down the only major cost will the players wages and expenses (3000 per week?). If the pitch and bar aren't being used they won't generate any costs, no bar staff to employ, no need to heat or light the building. Business rates, rent, insurance all due but nowhere near the cost of players. Non contract players and management expenses should be based on travelling expenses so they shouldn't rely on it if they aren't travelling to training or matches, that just leaves contracted players, which I would imagine is still a big problem for the club with no income whatsoever.

At this time of need what a chance for the likes of the top pundits and high payed players to donate a sum of cash to grassroots.football clubs .Linekar Neville carragher Thompson to name a few. Players to donate at top level what a good gesture that would be perhaps just a months salary would keep a least.a few teams above the bread line.maybe the thought might come true
