So I guess the position is now open for a new manager at our club, got no idea myself unless someone steps forward from the present back room staff. I don't think it's just rumours about the non existent playing budget come Feb,so whoever takes on this fine club will know their restraints, again I can't offer a replacement for Jems as not really up to date with the local footballing scene, plus it's already been mentioned about Kempy's time here & finding it hard to adjust to a higher level of football, so just wondering if the more knowledgeable posters could offer names
Merry Christmas

Darren Perrin or Craig Laird would be my choices, but no idea if they'd want it. Can't be much of a sell at the moment.

Jason Matthews.,,,,PLEASE If Matthews can't make it work with the budget he has at Weymouth he has no chance with our budget! No doubt a Weymouth supporter seeing this as a way for them to get someone else in to fail at gaining promotion again.

If I was being greedy, obviously Matty Holmes would be the one. He seems to have a full strategy in place at Wimborne and is doing work with their academy and helping on the commercial side of things there too which is just what we need, however, Wimborne have a huge budget and apparently gonna go for it next year so I cannot see him leaving there at this minute. Craig Laird is someone i've wanted for a while, but again, I can't see him going to us on our budget!
So if we're being realistic. I think Gary Bailey is a valid option. Done a terrific job at Portland, on next to no budget, taking them from the Dorset Premier League to on the brink of the Southern League, should Portland get promoted. From what I heard his sides are organised and well drilled and knows the local scene inside out.
Saying this, it's a HUGE decision for the club to make, and probably the most important managerial decision the club has ever had to make. Certainly in my lifetime at least. Best of luck.

I'd of said Holmes too, but as you probably guessed I'm also a West Ham fan so any ex-iron is good for me!! How about we ring Harry Redknapp & see if he'd do it for free?!?!?!
However I think I know what will happen, Rich Robson. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying Rich is the right or wrong option, but I think he'll be seen as the cheaper option.

As mentioned above this appointment is arguably the biggest in the clubs history certainly in my lifetime. The budget cuts have been well documented added to our precarious league position. As once the league has caught up on my reckoning we are 6th bottom.
I am leaning towards Ashley Vickers you know what his teams are about solid, organised, hard working and has a good use of contacts which is vital more so than ever before. Question marks remain over the style of football from his previous reign granted but with all due to respect to the current squad it's not as talented as the squad he had previously put together many played in the cup run which emphasises to me the use of contacts.
Yes things look bleak with Jermyn resigning and from his intitial comments about how he couldn't imagine surviving with what's to come. Going back whilst not comparable Mark Morris resigned due to a perceived lack of budget years ago over wanting Simon Radcliffe if memory serves me correct and Mark Morris going at the time was unthinkable as his Jem now but Micky Jenkins and his magic tank top kept us up!

Mark Morris, back involved at new Milton, he can turn this club around!! The chairman needs to approach him!! In my eyes senior and Heath have to go, more so Heath, he's been part of the debacle going on and has seen how many managers come and go now??

Anyone know how Mark Morris is doing in his return to management?
I think Heath should probably go to give us a fresh start, he and Trevor did seem to have had a big say under Craig, the next couple of games under Trevor will be interesting, if he goes on a good run then why not, but IF.
Gary Bailey, but is it a risk going with someone inexperienced at this level?
Tom Killick would be fantastic, if he feels held back at Poole, can't see it happening though.

Just had a quick look, New Milton P5 W2 D2 L1.
Strange as it sounds Bailey could be an interesting choice give the number of Portland players we currently have, he obviously knows how to get results out of them.
Killick would be great but would he drop a division? I wouldn't of thought so.

Could Alex Pike be a possibility for manager? Can't be wanting to stay on at Gosport much longer given their situation.

Matty Holmes? When Jem left Matty was ruled out because he had it good at Wimborne, since then their sugar Daddy has pulled out and the playing budget has been slashed.
Not sure he has proved himself at Wimborne, but he has good contacts, maybe Toby Holmes would follow?!

First and foremost though, I want someone who's going to set us up well and keep it tight at the back. I'm getting sick of watching us over the last 4/5 seasons playing nice, pretty football and then conceding sloppy goals (most likely from set pieces). Give me 11 6ft+ bruisers who'll scrap out results any day of the week. To that end, I guess someone experienced with a knowledge of this level to be best?!

Name one side that has ever played well and win things without 6ft scrappers. We aren't in the conference anymore. We need technical players, but without a scrappers we will get taken apart every game

No need for apologies Brownowen every one has there view. my view is there a couple of young lads at this club that could if they work hard could make it into the football leauge. i really mean that, and that would make our club a bit of money. i dont think Trev is the right man for the job, but i have been wrong before.

Very impressive birdman, always good to hear the opinions of a player with good experience of the game at this level.
